Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
Hey, there’s April. What in the world are you pointing at?![]()
Every year, the kids from our church meet at a park with their families to shoot off rockets that they made.
We all eat together and have fun visiting and hanging out.![]()
Look, the Munchkins are there. And MrMama! He’s holding a stick, not a rocket. Wishful thinking, MrMama. Miss Munchkin is holding a gluten-free hot dog bun. That won’t fly very far either, Dear.
It’s just good, clean fun and something the kids look forward to throughout the year.

Such fun and what a beautiful day too!
Whew! You had me worried for a minute. Round these parts when one says 'eyes to the sky' it means a tornado is a comin'. Glad this time it meant fun times with your family and friends!
What a fun tradition! How long has this been going on? And is there some religious significance? Or the pastor just likes rockets? ;)

Dawn, it IS getting to be that time of year around here (tornado season). I'll take a potluck picnic party over one of those anyday!
Nichole, it's been going on as long as I can remember. I have no idea As far as I know, there is no deep-rooted theology underlying this event; just fun and fellowship. :)
